History

Hauge & Hassain, Inc. was founded on August 28, 1967 by Arthur L. Hauge & Kelliel B. Hassain. Located at 419 Cedar Street in Seattle, they set out to be the local leaders in the installation of specialty wall covering as well as floor covering. On March 29, 1974, the company was sold to Kenneth K. Murray who then added Class ‘A’ office painting to the portfolio. To streamline the services offered by Hauge & Hassain, he transitioned away from the flooring side of the business.

Murray spent twenty-three years building his business to become Seattle’s best in wallcover installation and commercial painting. In October of 1997, to company was sold to Wayne Lennstrom, who remains the president to this day. Since this change, Hauge has expanded it services with the addition of a spray booth to fine finish woodwork.

Mr. Lennstrom is a member of the Finishing Contractors Association, affiliated with the International Union of Painters and Allied Trades, and is a trustee of the local Western Washington Signatory Painters and Labor Management Corporation Initiative.
